Like most silver products, Reed & Barton silverplate pieces feature hallmarks that help you to identify it.
Instead it is likely silver-plated nickel from the 19th century or later. Old Sheffield Plate is usually identified using certain names and dates imprinted on the metal.
NOTE: FLATWARE IS Note that 1944 skipped over the I as it would look to much like the mark for 1921.
Also skipped over are the Q and V, so be careful when checking dates.
